Man Is the Expression of Mind

[Written Especially for Young People]

One of the most subtle arguments of mortal mind is the claim that there is both good and bad in Mind's creation. This error sometimes presents itself to school and college students in the suggestion that they are capable, or outstanding, in some fields of study, but inferior or utterly inadequate in others. A correct understanding of divine Mind as taught in Christian Science destroys this error by revealing its false foundation.

On page 468 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy, our beloved Leader, presents this positive statement: "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." In elucidating the text (Genesis 2:1), "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them," she says in part (ibid., p. 519),

"Thus the ideas of God in universal being are complete and forever expressed, for Science reveals infinity and the fatherhood and motherhood of Love." Where, then, is there room for imperfection or incompleteness? It is obvious that such a situation cannot exist in God's creation. Nothing can interfere with Mind's complete manifestation, for God is Mind, and God is All. Man not only reflects Mind, but expresses Mind completely and perfectly. This fact is a spiritual law, which is divinely natural and cannot be reversed.
