Christian Science has met my...
Christian Science has met my every need since I was twelve years of age, at which time my parents became interested in this Science. While they did not take up its study for physical healing, no family needed it more than ours, because my mother had been an invalid for years and I was considered very delicate, constantly under the doctors' care and unable to attend school more than a few days at a time. Through faithful church attendance both on Wednesday evenings and often twice on Sundays, together with the reading of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and other writings by Mary Baker Eddy, health and strength were gained so that I was able to attend high school without a single day's absence, walking as many as ten blocks to and from school in all kinds of weather.
When twenty-eight years of age, I was confronted with the fact that my mother and I were entirely without funds or income, and that I must find employment to provide a living for both of us. Since I had had no business education and was by nature very self-conscious, the path seemed difficult, but with the courageous help of my mother and steadfast trust in God's ability to care for His children, we proved the truth of Mrs. Eddy's words in Science and Health (p.494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." Within a short time I was offered a clerical position at a very small salary, but our gratitude to God for the opportunity to work was so great that the seeming inadequacy of the remuneration was of no consequence. We knew that it was God who had made the opening, and that He alone would provide the increase, which He has abundantly done.
In over twenty-five years I have not been absent from work more than six or seven days on account of sickness. During this time several erroneous physical conditions had to be healed, and in one instance it was necessary to have help for about two months from a practitioner, but I was able to attend business every day with the exception of one.
