Christian Science was presented to me when to mortal sense there seemed nothing left to live for. I had been told by doctors that I should be a semi-invalid for the rest of my life, because one kidney was gone and the other very much diseased. This discouraging medical diagnosis, coupled with an unhappy home life, seemed the last straw. A friend, seeing my need, asked me if I would try Christian Science, and with my consent wired a practitioner in Sydney (at the time I was living in Tasmania), with the result that I had an instantaneous healing. I shall never forget the wonderful freedom from pain experienced and how I wished that all who were sick could know about Christian Science.

Although it subsequently took me some time to gain an understanding of the perfect nature of the spiritual creation, a daily study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, brought beautiful healings for the children. One healing was of deep cuts, resulting from a fall on a crosscut saw, and another was of a deep gash over the eye from an ax. This healed quickly, without leaving even a scar, through the declaration of the truths from Science and Health (p. 424), "Accidents arre unknown to God;" and, "Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection." These were to me wonderful proofs that Christian Science is indeed the truth which Jesus taught, and I knew I could never go back to the religious teachings of my youth. I can never express enough gratitude for having been led to this demonstrable religion, which has brought so much peace, health, and happiness into my life.
