The great issue before each one of us is that of spiritual victory for the way of free men, freedom to choose the better way of thought, of life, of opportunity to embrace and enjoy moral, intellectual, and spiritual progress towards still higher achievements in true well-being. It has become a necessity towards victory that each one of us assume our rightful responsibility.

Already out of the conflict there have arisen marvelous evidences of Christian fortitude, courage, and resourcefulness, of invincible spiritual morale. Unusually convincing proofs have been forthcoming that God's outstretched arm of righteousness protects, preserves, and provides escape amid the direst ruthlessness and destruction ever planned by wicked minds. We have thus gained in assurance that Christianity's infinite spiritual resources, derived from the heavenly Father, are ever ours to sustain, to comfort, "to save ... to the uttermost" as we consecrate ourselves in service to mankind.

We remember each day with gratitude how much consideration, comfort, and prayerful support we owe to those on the front lines, so many of whom are giving their earthly all in defense of the sacred cause of freedom.
