The New World

A Great deal of discussion takes place these days with reference to the new world which is to be built up after the war. Plans for the betterment of human conditions from every standpoint are being discussed, and gradually thought is accepting the fact that the change must come about mentally.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 91) Mary Baker Eddy writes: "The Revelator tells us of 'a new heaven and a new earth.' Have you ever pictured this heaven and earth, inhabited by beings under the control of supreme wisdom?" Christian Science gives us the true meaning of spiritual habitation, and reveals the fact that man lives in Mind, where harmony is the law. This Science enables us intelligently to reject the suggestions of evil as having either place or power and teaches us how to live in the kingdom of Love, how to abide "in the secret place of the most High," and how to rely entirely upon God for our every need.

God's creation is finished and complete; nothing ever can be added to it or taken away from it, for it is the manifestation of God. The human mind, however, has been educated to believe that man is material; that he requires a material dwelling place and has to use his brain and money in order to live. The demolition of houses, property, businesses, and accumulated treasure illustrates the unreality of matter as substance. Perhaps in one night the result of years of effort has faded away. Always it is true, whatever the seeming, that man's home, business, supply, and activity are in Mind, God, who supplies every idea with all that is essential for its well-being and expression.
