Among the Churches
Current Notes
Courtenay, British Columbia, Canada (Society).—The Christian Science church on Lake Trail Road in Courtenay was formally dedicated at the regular service on Sunday, March 29, 1942. The First Reader read a brief history of the church, which is now debt-free.
Christian Science first came to the Comox District in the year 1919, when a few students met in one another's homes to read the Lesson-Sermon. It was not until October, 1929, that it was decided to engage a meeting place, when a room in the Native Sons' Hall at Courtenay was rented.
The first service was held on Sunday, November 18, and Sunday school was commenced the same morning. Later on, Wednesday evening meetings were begun, being held on the last Wednesday of the month.
