It is with a deep sense of gratitude...
It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I submit this testimony. It is also written in the hope that it may lead some weary sufferer to Christian Science.
A few years ago a brother was stricken with double pneumonia. He was at once rushed to a hospital, where his condition rapidly became worse, until the doctor in attendance summoned the family. His verdict held no hope whatsoever.
When the doctor left, he stated that my brother was beyond any help that he or anyone else could give him and that he left him in higher hands. His death was believed to be so imminent that he was placed in a room alone, for it was expected it would only be a matter of hours.
My brother knew of Christian Science, but his interest had been passive up to that time. I was called to his deathbed on a Sunday, and he was just able to signify to me his willingness to have Christian Science treatment. Help was immediately asked for. The practitioner had just got home from church, and she said that she was "armed and clothed spiritually with a true, sharp steel," and she quoted from the Bible, "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
All medical treatment was discontinued. The next morning there was a rallying; in seven days my brother was home, and in two weeks returned to work, much to the amazement of the physician and attending nurses. In their words, a miracle had been wrought.
For this outstanding healing and many others, which have included those of incipient tuberculosis, nervous breakdowns, stomach trouble, and an instantaneous healing of scalding, all in our own home, I am exceedingly grateful. I am grateful to God for having directed my footsteps to Christian Science; to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, whose work has resulted in this great movement; and to the ever faithful, untiring, and unselfish practitioners.— (Mrs.) Essie Lupton, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
I hereby testify that the above is true and that I, the brother referred to, was healed by Christian Science.—Leslie Tait.
