It was through the Camp Welfare Activities...
It was through the Camp Welfare Activities that I learned of Christian Science and became interested in its teaching of Truth. I have been a student and have had many healings through its application since the last war.
I enlisted in the United States Army during the first World War, and was immediately transferred across the continent to a new cantonment for training. I was lonesome, fearful, and uncertain of the future, every day expecting to be called for duty overseas.
I had been in camp for only a few days when I noticed a visitor in civilian clothes talking to some boys in the barracks. My curiosity being aroused, I learned that this man, later to be assisted by his wife, was going to be a regular visitor every day in the camp and the barracks, and would bring The Christian Science Monitor, free of cost, to all those desiring it. I was overjoyed at this generous offer and accepted it. The true and authentic information, with able editorial comment, removed doubt and fear from my thinking, making for peace of mind and security.
