Excerpts from Letters Concerning Christian Science Camp Welfare Work
[From a Christian Science Officiating Minister]
I had a long talk with the mother of a pilot officer (her husband is also in the Air Force) who told me of a remarkable instance of protection due to the son's use of Christian Science. While he was flying in a heavy cloud the instruments of his plane failed and, noticing the panic of his pupils, he realized the need to express composure and confidence himself in order to allay their fear. He clung on to all the truth he knew and at that moment came out of the cloud to find the machine upside down. He at once went into a barrel roll, but managed to pull out of it when not far from the ground.
