Error's Claim Refuted

In the book of Proverbs the wise man remarks that he desires of God but two things, namely, that "vanity and lies" be removed far from him, and that he be made to suffer "neither poverty nor riches." Such desires are as old as the written word, and probably older. "Vanity of vanities ... all is vanity" is an ancient theme, its sequel epitomized in the words of the Psalmist, "Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously."

Such sentiments speak impressively of the persistence with which aspiring thought reaches a plane where human woes and human misdeeds are recognized as experiences apart from man's real nature. Thus it is seen that to recognize that which is true is to unmask that which is false.

The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, possessed to a marked degree the spiritual inspiration which unmasked error. Throughout her teaching and demonstrating of the Christ-cure, she exposed sickness, sin, inharmony, and death as deceptions or illusions.
