Keeping in Step with the Absolute

There are records in the Bible of men who, keeping step with spiritual law, availed themselves of its practicability without resorting to ordinary material methods.

Christ Jesus taught and demonstrated conclusively the allness of spiritual law and its achievements. He supplied the wine for the wedding feast. When told of the need for money with which to pay the tax, he sent Peter to obtain it from the fish's mouth. When it became necessary to feed five thousand people, he multiplied the bread that was on hand. And when the widow's son had died, he raised him up through the power of Spirit, through the understanding and application of spiritual law.

Christian Science develops our understanding of God-given dominion, by which to overcome the beliefs of fear, lack, and limitation, and this dominion is our birthright to claim and to use. When men more fully understand that the real man is governed by God alone, they will see that their spiritual progress determines the harmony and advancement in their human affairs. They will cease trying to make God's law operate, and become aware that it is always functioning. They will let this law govern their thoughts, and thereby their affairs. It is necessary to remove all obstacles in our consciousness—obstacles such as fear, doubt, and selfishness—which would becloud thought and thus prevent the expression of right human activity. One should immediately reject all aggressive suggestions of fear and doubt. Suggestions of fear, failure, and weakness are dispelled through realizing the omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience of God, and spiritual man's inseparability from God, infinite Mind—through realizing that spiritual man consciously reflects the qualities of his Father-Mother God.
