Christian Science has been a constant guide, comfort,...
Christian Science has been a constant guide, comfort, and source of inspiration to me since early boyhood. I had the privilege of attending a Christian Science Sunday School from the age of about ten years, and the teaching I received there has been a major factor in shaping my life. I attended college away from home, and found there a Christian Science Organization, which provided many opportunities for progress, and where I found many fruitful friendships. The experiences we shared at our testimony meetings were especially helpful in connection with problems of college life. It is very encouraging to find in a community where there seem to be so many distracting elements, a place where one may find the good things Christian Science stands for.
During my college experience I was guided and protected, not only in connection with courses and examinations, but in athletics, student government activities, and social life. It is significant that I never missed a day from school on account of illness or accident. At the close of the senior year there was a series of comprehensive examinations on the whole four years' work. As a result of what I had learned of Christian Science I was almost completely free from fear or nervousness during this experience.
Freedom came as I lifted my thought to Truth and realized that the real man is God's idea, reflecting intelligence and ability. This helped a great deal in keeping my thinking free from fear of material conditions and limitations. Mrs. Eddy tells us on page 120 of Science and Health, "Matter can make no conditions for man."
