John Randall Dunn, C. S. B., of Boston and Centerville, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, is the son of James Randall Dunn, long identified with the United States Immigration Service in various cities in this country. His mother, Mrs. Caroline R. Dunn, was an accomplished singer and pianist, and in her later years a successful Christian Science practitioner. Mr. Dunn, a native of Massillon, Ohio, received his schooling in Massillon and San Francisco, and from private tutors. For a few years as a young man he was in the Government service in San Francisco; but witnessing Christian Science healing in his family, he resolved to resign his post and give his life to this healing ministry. He entered the practice of Christian Science in St. Louis, Missouri, and later on served

First Church of Christ, Scientist, of that city as First Reader, and at another period as chairman of the Board of Trustees.

After some years in the practice, he was appointed a member of the Board of Lectureship of The Mother Church. Later he received Normal class instruction in the Board of Education, and became an authorized teacher of Christian Science. In 1920 he was called to serve as First Reader in The Mother Church. At the conclusion of this term of service, he was again elected to the Board of Lectureship, and continued a member thereof up to 1940, at which time in accordance with established policy he retired for a two-year period of study and practice. While serving on the Board of Lectureship, he has carried the healing message of Christian Science to all parts of the United States and Canada, to the United Kingdom and Ireland, to Continental Europe, South Africa, the Antipodes, the Orient, the Philippines, Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, the West Indies, and South America.
