I desire to express my gratitude and joy for what divine Love has done for me through Christian Science. I have great reason to praise and glorify God, the divine Principle, Life and Love, for all He done for me.

After many years of preparation, I was ordained by an orthodox church council to preach. During my ministry my faith received a severe shock. An epidemic seized the town in which I was preaching. Being a pastor I was called to help relieve the suffering which, to me, was heartbreaking. I would be asked to pray that God would spare their lives to their loved ones. I did pray, but my faith, being without understanding, was giving way. I doubted the truth of my theology.

I turned to the Gospels, and read, "God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." But in the face of my present experience, this did not seem to me to be true. I became an agnostic, and finally was deposed. For a period of thirty years I sought the meaning of life. I longed for the peace that was mine when I had a simple, childlike faith.
