Answered Prayer

Restore, dear Lord, the joy of Thy salvation,
The bonds of sense remove and set me free,
That I, like bird full-winged, with jubilation,
Thy Word may carry over land and sea.

Watch! Through the gloom of doubt soft light is falling,
Sweet radiance shedding o'er earth's vale and hill.
Above the tumult loud a voice is calling,
God is omnipotent, go do His will!

My prayer has always been that Thou wouldst hear me,
But now in love and deep humility
I learn my happy task, to listen clearly,
And know, dear Lord, the joy of hearing Thee.
