I began the study of Christian Science through my small daughter's healing of whooping cough. Being discouraged with the long-drawn-out experiences of materia medica, I called a friend who I knew was a student of Christian Science and asked her how I could procure Christian Science help. She gave me the name of a practitioner, upon whom I called, and the child experienced an immediate healing. This was sufficient proof to me of the truth of Christian Science. I took up the study, attended the services, and entered my daughter in the Sunday school.

Since then we have had many other healings: of nervous breakdown verging on insanity, heart disease, boils, and arthritis. Business and financial difficulties have been overcome through faithful adherence to Christian Science.

A more recent healing that greatly increased my understanding of Science, and for which I am deeply grateful, was of a very painful condition which attacked many organs of my body. I could not lie comfortably in bed, and after a short sleep, I would awaken in great pain. Two verses from the Bible (II Corinthians 5:8 and Philippians 4:4) came clearly to my thought, and I immediately got up and began to "rejoice." I spent the rest of the night in study, and in the morning I was refreshed and able to attend to my duties during the day. The condition continued for several days. During a visit to the practitioner, however, it was unfolded to me that I was harboring a sense of grief over a past experience. I was soon healed.
