Although I expressed my gratitude in our periodicals for Christian Science when it first healed me of much suffering, twenty years ago, I feel that I should like to do so again, for I have had a continuance of good health, having spent not one whole day in bed since that time. I have had convincing proof of the efficacy of Christian Science. When it first came to me, I was an army nursing sister on the staff of one of the large London military hospitals. I was suffering from a complete breakdown in health. My great fear was of insanity, which, with consumption, was hereditary in my mother's family. I was losing my eyesight, which had been defective since childhood, and for which I had always to wear thick-lensed glasses. I was closely affiliated with materia medica and theology, but neither of these could bring me help or comfort in these trials.

My eyes were healed instantaneously when I read the first chapter of Genesis in the light of the spiritual illumination which Mrs. Eddy's statement brought me (Science and Health, p. 468): "Man is not material; he is spiritual." I gladly put away the thick-lensed glasses, and my sight has been in perfect condition ever since. My general health was quickly restored. Hay fever, chronic laryngitis, rheumatism, colic, and other discords never appeared again, for I began to understand that health is a spiritual quality and the natural status of man.

It took seven years to overcome the fear of insanity completely. However, I was greatly helped about it when I first began to study Science, for I saw that since God is the only Mind, there could not be another mind deranged or out of control. I should like to tell how wonderfully I was guided by God in the working out of that healing.
