With a more than grateful heart, I want to add my paean of thanks for the many lessons I have learned in my twenty-five years of study of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our great Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. I first learned the import of this teaching from an uncle who was very dear to me. I watched Truth transform his life, as he daily proved its efficacy by his study and application of it. This indeed made a big impression on me. While I was not ill, I felt that by knowing something about Christian Science I could be protected from trouble of any kind. So I too became interested, and daily read the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. Along the way there have been many healings, both for others in the home and for myself. Never throughout the years have I ever had any other help, and my needs have always been met.
Several years ago I had a severe attack of rheumatism, which kept me in bed for three weeks. I had all my Christian Science books around me and every day sang hymns and learned all I could; also I obtained help from practitioners. One day a member of my family, who is not a Christian Scientist, suggested that perhaps I had eaten too many acids. Then it was that I turned the searchlight of Truth into my thinking and found both resentment and impatience lingering there. As soon as these qualities of thought were exchanged for more tolerance and love, I was very quickly healed.
I am most grateful for the many lessons I have needed to learn, and the help I have always had through the study of our Leader's writings. My gratitude is unbounded for having had class instruction.
