One of the many blessings that have come to me through...
One of the many blessings that have come to me through Christian Science, and for which I have cause to be very grateful, is some understanding of the unerring guidance of God in our daily affairs. An experience several years ago gave me great joy and confidence.
I was working for a light and power company in the South. During the process of amalgamation when this company was being taken over by a larger one, they very kindly offered me positions in two different departments. An outside firm in a different type of work, which was at the same time being organized, also offered me a position. I accepted the latter, but after waiting for a few weeks they informed me that the new work would not materialize. Inasmuch as the two other positions had been filled, I found myself without employment. A short time before this, all my savings had been lent to a near and deat relative who was going through a very difficult period on account of prolonged illness and resulting financial problems.
It was about this time that Christian Science found me, and although I understood very little about it, I was convinced it was the truth I had been seeking for years. I had a great desire to work this difficulty out in Science, but did not know very well how to go about it, and I did not know of a practitioner in that section of the country at the time. The only way that came to me was just to be quiet and listen for God's direction, so I went into a room alone and began to work in this way. Through this work, I reached the definite conclusion that I should apply for employment in another city. This I did, and the employment I needed opened up immediately with the first company to which I applied. I am still with this firm. The work has been interesting, helpful, pleasant, and harmonious. My needs have certainly been met, and many beautiful friendships have come to me during my stay here.
