No Shortages in Divine Mind

In the situation that exists at present, one seeking to meet even the simplest needs is confronted by the belief that there is a shortage of the article or commodity desired. One who is disposed to be reasonable and unselfish in his demands will not be unduly disturbed by the fact that they cannot be promptly complied with. Nevertheless, it is a human fact that these shortages are sometimes fictitious, and that they are alleged to exist for ulterior purposes.

Whatever the condition may be, or may seem to be, as a part of human experience, if it is in the nature of limitation it has no place in divine reality and is no part of man, the image or idea of divine Mind. In the Mind which is infinite and divine there is no consciousness of incompleteness or lack. And since man is the exact likeness of Mind and exists as its perfect expression, he can have no consciousness of lack. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, says on page 276 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "Man and his Maker are correlated in divine Science, and real consciousness is cognizant only of the things of God." Lack, obviously, is not a thing of God. Therefore man, the likeness of God, is not cognizant of it.

Thus it will be seen that there are no shortages in reality. The Mind which is infinite and divine does not know anything about shortages, and man, the image or idea of Mind, cannot and does not know anything that is not in Mind. When, therefore, we are confronted by the beliefs of shortage, lack, limitation, and so forth, it is our privilege to deny these false beliefs and to replace them in our thought with the consciousness of the ever-present abundance of God's spiritual ideas. This will not only bless us, but will also help to lift the burden of lack from all men everywhere. Mrs. Eddy says on page 60 of Science and Health, "Soul has infinite resources with which to bless mankind, and happiness would be more readily attained and would be more secure in our keeping, if sought in Soul."
