My first healing in Christian Science was of tuberculosis...
My first healing in Christian Science was of tuberculosis in its last stages. Since then, by reliance on the truth as taught by Mary Baker Eddy in the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," I have, with the aid of practitioners, had many proofs of the efficacy of this Science. This "key" to the Scriptures has helped me unlock many hidden treasures and has made me love the Bible. When I used to read the Bible, before I knew of the healing truth, I did so from a sense of duty, and I never understood or truly loved it as I now do.
I have had many proofs, some of them instantaneous, of the power of divine Love. When we wholly rely on this power we are rewarded with a greater sense of unselfishness, kindness, love, and consideration.
After an automobile accident a few years ago I proved most conclusively what can be done when we place reliance wholly in God as we are taught to do in Christian Science. One night about dusk I was run over, the car going over my entire body and tearing my clothing to shreds. I was thrown against a concrete sidewalk and my head was badly cut. I had been knocked unconscious, but the two men who picked me up said that I gave them a number, which proved to be the number of my house, and they took me there. My mother and sister, who were students of Christian Science, called a practitioner and then bound up my wounds. The gash on my head healed with almost no trace of scar, the hair growing again; and my body seemed as good as new. Error suggested that one hip would be lower than the other, but radical reliance on Christian Science proved this suggestion to be false, and before long my hip was normal again.
