My gratitude for Christian Science could never be expressed...
My gratitude for Christian Science could never be expressed in mere words. The healing of my mother was accomplished many years ago through the blessed ministry of the truth, as taught by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. It was looked upon as a miracle in those days, and greater still was the transformation "by the renewing of [the] mind" of each and every individual in that home.
We were living in New York City at the time. When the first Sunday school was formed there, I attended it, and I received a great deal of inspiration from this teaching. Class instruction from a loyal student of our Leader was also my great privilege.
My first healing through Christian Science was of diphtheria, which I contracted during my first year in boarding school. I had medical attention for one week in obedience to the rule of the school, but as there was no improvement I was sent home. I appeared very ill, but no fear or concern was expressed. In a short while a student of Christian Science was brought to our home, and sat for an hour at my bedside. I soon fell asleep, and awakened shortly very hungry. I eagerly ate the food brought me, for it was the first I had been able to swallow in over a week. Ten hours of uninterupted sleep followed, during which the complete healing was effected. Imagine my joy! Could I ever doubt thereafter that Christian Science was the Comforter promised by the Master?
