that if I followed close
Wherever God might lead,
His love would always care for me
And satisfy my need.
Sometimes the way seemed dark and long,
The foe too strong to meet;
But always came the angel-voice—
Look up; refuse defeat!
Then rousing from the dream of fear,
And holding to Love's hand,
I saw the fog of error melt
And found the promised land.
God's goodness is forever real,
His love is everywhere,
By simple knowing all may prove
His ever-present care.
