I am very grateful to have had the opportunity of witnessing a most wonderful healing, which occurred while I was living and working in a small mining town. The experience was a convincing proof to me, as well as to others, that Christian Science heals every disease. My wife was healed of a miscarriage, influenza, pneumonia, and an abscess on one lung. During the short period of three weeks, these ailments were diagnosed by a very conscientious doctor, who informed me and others that death was only about two hours away.
Christian Science treatment was asked for, and immediately begun by a faithful practitioner, whose name was chosen from many in The Christian Science Journal. He lived about thirty-five miles away, so absent treatment was given for two weeks; after which my wife was placed nearer the practitioner. Work for her was continued for about three months, when she was entirely healed. I wish to add, regarding the healing of the abscess on the lung, that this was a case of mental surgery, for the discharge came directly through a breast bone. She is enjoying the very best of health today, and we have four children, who have all had the benefit of attending the Christian Science Sunday School, and have enjoyed many proofs of God's loving care.
I also experienced a healing of my own during this period, of which I should like to tell. While talking to the practitioner, I was holding a cigarette in my fingers until it became so hot I had to drop it. I realized a few days later that the cigarette habit was gone, and today I am entirely free from it.
