I owe a debt of gratitude to God for having healed me through Christian Science treatment. This testimony is given in the hope that it will help others who are suffering from disease. For Mrs. Eddy I feel a deep sense of appreciation for what has been and is being done for all mankind in giving Christian Science to the world.

My healing took place in 1898. For months I had been so ill that I could not go up and down stairs, and I was in pain most of the time. We were living in a small town in Minnesota. At the time we had five small children who needed a mother's care. In desperation we went to a clinic for a diagnosis of my case. The surgeon who examined me has since become an authority on surgery. He told my husband and me that I was suffering from internal difficulties, that is, ovarian trouble, a fallen womb, cancer of the breast, and a large goiter. My mother had just passed on, and the surgeon said the rapid and excessive growth of the cancerous tumor was due to grief. The surgeon also stated that an operation was absolutely necessary, and the date for the operation was set.

I returned home under great difficulty to arrange my home affairs and prepare for a long stay at the hospital.
