It is with much joy that I express gratitude for the many...
It is with much joy that I express gratitude for the many blessings received through the study and application of Christian Science. I did not take up the study of this wonderful religion for a physical healing, but during the past nineteen years I have experienced many; I have also seen several marvelous healings for others. These proofs make me more convinced each day that there is but one healing power—God, the Giver of all good.
Recently I observed a healing of my wife, the recounting of which I hope will be of help to others. On a Sunday afternoon following church services, my wife and I visited some relatives. Shortly after dinner she suffered so much pain that we started for home. During the motor trip she gained some releif through metaphysical work, but throughout the night she suffered much distress.
On the following day she gained some relief, but on Tuesday morning she was in such distress that we decided to ask for help from a practitioner, and the work was immediately taken up for her. I remained by her side throughout the day, reading from the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings, holding thought all the while to the fact that God was her Life and strength. The following morning she seemed to have gained some relief. When I was out of the room for a few minutes, I heard her call my name as if in much distress, and I hastened to her side. A glance was sufficient to show that she was expereincing much pain, in fact she showed signs of passing on. Immediately I put my arm around her and declared over and over that God was her Life; God was her strength. Her eyes slowly closed, however, and she ceased to breathe. I continued to declare the truth as we are taught in Christian Science, but every indication was that she had ceased to live. Still holding to the truth I reached over, picked up the telephone receiver, and called the practitioner. She was quick to deny the error, and almost immediately my wife opened her eyes wide. In a few minutes she recovered her voice and expressed how rested she felt and entirely free from pain. From then on she gained strength rapidly, and was soon enjoying her usual good health. This demonstration has made us both stronger in faith in God.
