I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science
I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science. About sixteen years ago, I was suffering physically from what was called a hereditary disease, namely, kidney and bladder trouble. I had gone to many physicians, but, like the woman in the Bible story, I "was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse." This condition continued for a number of years, when a friend with whom I was working recommended my reading Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. I borrowed the textbook, but did not understand it. A few days passed, and I visited the physician again, hoping against hope that he could help me. He gave me a prescription. On arriving home with the package of medicine, I suddenly dreaded to open it. I made my decision at that time in favor of Christian Science, and threw the medicine into wastebasket without unwrapping it.
I purchased a Bible, the Christian Science textbook, and a Christian Science Quarterly, and began studying the Lesson-Sermon every morning before going to business. Our Leader says in Science and Health (p. 1), "Desire is prayer; and no loss can occur from trusting God with our desires." My desire to know God better and to live a purer life brought about a healing, which has been permanent. Since then I have had many proofs of God's loving care. I have been healed of periodical sick headaches; a broken collarbone was set overnight, through the help of a loving practitioner; and I have experienced many other healings through Christian Science.
