The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Hyannis, Massachusetts (auspices The Mother Church).

Lecturer: John Henry Weer; introduced by Mrs. Margaret Stokes Patton, who said:—

It is a blessed opportunity to share with you that which has blessed us for so many years. When I look back upon what I thought was myself, when Christian Science found me, I cannot believe, and rightly, that I was ever such an unhappy, sick, and selfish person. It was all due to a misunderstanding of what God had created and what He meant that I should be; and I can never cease to be grateful for the first words of the Christian Science practitioner who came to help me, "God never made you to suffer." Those words and their meaning were like a beacon light shining out over a dark and stormy sea. That light has never failed me, and it can be to you, too, a light to guide you to your divine inheritance of joy, health, happiness, and peace, the consciousness of God's very presence.
