Item of Interest

Christian Science lectures are often published in the newspapers of communities where lectures are given under the auspices of branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, for many editors consider these lectures to be of general interest to their readers. Newspapers printing complete reports of Christian Science lectures render a service to their readers which should receive the support and encouragement of Christian Scientists and branches of The Mother Church in the local areas these newspapers serve.

Christian Scientists may well be grateful for the opportunity to review the remarks of lecturers in local papers following the delivery of these lectures in their own or near-by communities; and they should also find occasion to call such lectures to the attention of neighboring friends and acquaintances, by distributing copies of the issues of local papers containing complete lecture reports.

It is highly desirable for Christian Scientists to purchase their local papers in which reports of Christian Science lectures appear. It has, however, been found that for some time they have in increasing numbers been purchasing copies of newspapers published in distant places, when these have carried Christian Science lectures. This demand, from far and near, has encouraged some newspapers or other periodicals to publish Christian Science lectures regularly as a commercial venture. These lectures often appear, regardless of the fact that they are not reports of lectures published at the time of their delivery in the local areas. Further, the demand for Christian Science lectures has caused individuals to buy quantities of newspapers in which Christian Science lectures are printed, and to sell them on the street and elsewhere. Others clip and prepare these lectures for sale by pasting them into notebooks.
