In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"...

In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, are found these words (p. 3): "Gratitude is much more than a verbal expression of thanks. Action expresses more gratitude than speech." My one wish is to demonstrate this active and true gratitude through a steadfast consecration to the teachings of the master Christian, who said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Through the teachings of Christian Science I have learned to rely wholly upon God as my Physician, Guide, and Counselor.

I became interested in Christian Science through the healing of my mother, who was lifted out of a chronic ailment, weakness, and despair into health and peace. All that I have and am I owe to this infinite truth. My first healing was of eczema. As I held to the allness of God and the perfection of creation, the false claim was met and conquered. I have been healed of an eye trouble, boils, colds, athlete's foot, severe pains in the stomach, and various other ailments. I am most grateful for the mental uplifting and spiritualization of thought; for the overcoming of an extreme sense of fear—fear of people, the future, and self; also of a false sense of responsibility by knowing that God's work is already done, and that our work is to "stand porter at the door of thought" (ibid., p. 392) and accept as real only that which is good and true.

Christian Science opened to me the treasures of the Bible. Where before it appeared to me a work of useless commands and contradictions, it is now interesting, practical, and indispensable in my study. I am very grateful for the many blessings we have received in the home. Christian Science has met our every need—financial, physical, and mental; it is indeed the sovereign panacea. Words fail to express my gratitude for our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who was divinely led to discover and reveal this wonderful truth to the world; also for the Christian Science organization and its manifold activities.—Edward Ernest Kemnitz, Columbus, Georgia.
