True Democracy Is Based on Righteousness

IN the world today there is evidence that the true concept of man is gently, but surely, taking the place of outworn beliefs. In questions of government, for example, this concept is appearing in the persistent and courageous efforts of many right thinkers and statesmen to bring to fulfillment the ideal of equal rights and privileges for all men.

Why should there be confusion regarding the right method of bringing to fruition this longed-for ideal of true democracy? Christian Science shows that the difficulty lies in the attempting of an impossible task, namely, trying to work out a spiritual ideal from the mortal and material standpoint. This mistake is not seen until men learn, through Christian Science, that matter is a false concept of creation. This material concept is always imperfect because of its inherent falsity.

God, Spirit, has created a perfect spiritual universe, reflecting infinite goodness and truth. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," the textbook of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 29), "Man as the offspring of God, as the idea of Spirit, is the immortal evidence that Spirit is harmonious and man eternal." Christian Science has brought the full revelation of man as the child of God, the idea of Spirit, Mind, who forever reflects and obeys the Father-Mother God. God, infinite good, has created and maintains His own. Being infinitely loving, God could not know or express inequality regarding His children. Discrepancies do not exist in God's universe. In his true being, each individual reflects God, impartially receiving blessings infinite. In the words of Paul, "There is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him."
