Christian Science, in compassionately healing mankind of the many ills from which it suffers, is humbly following the commands of the great Master, Christ Jesus, who said: "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." The truth which makes free—which heals us—is recognized by Christian Scientists to be of God; and the knowing of the truth is the spiritual understanding of God and divine law. The application of this spiritual understanding to human affairs is the practice of Christian Science healing, the effect of which is not miraculous, but is the natural results of divine law operating in the human consciousness. It will be appreciated, therefore, that neither what is commonly referred to as "faith-healing," nor "cures by suggestion," nor "the miraculous" enter into Christian Science.

Faith and works are like the two oars of a boat. Pull on either one alone and you make no progress. Pull on both and you go ahead.—W. R. R.
