With a happy and grateful heart I can testify that Christian Science...
With a happy and grateful heart I can testify that Christian Science has been my savior in mental and physical distress. When my attention was first called to Christian Science, over three years ago, I was suffering from many false beliefs and physical infirmities, including frequent pains in my stomach. Neither an operation nor all the medicines which were used brought real improvement. I was embittered, envious of the health of my fellow men, and full of dark thoughts—constantly dissatisfied. For supposed weakness of the eyes I wore glasses, for broken arches supports, and I had injections against rheumatism. I was suspicious of the whole world. I regarded myself as a helpless wreck, tossed to and fro by mortal passions. Because of my lack of receptivity I did not at once find the expected salvation from all evil, when I was lovingly introduced to Christian Science and read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I laid this precious book aside without heed; but infinite Love had already taken me by its strong hand.
I lost my position, which I had highly valued, and in this great human distress I found the right way to Truth, Love, and Life. I stared again to study the textbook, I attended the services of the Christian Science church, and again and again in doubt and discouragement got comfort and help from the kind Reader and practitioner and from Christian Science acquaintances. Soon thereafter I could do without glasses in reading the textbook, and as a further result of my growing understanding I was able to destroy all the remedies and medicines I had used before. I saw clearly that God, Spirit, was transforming my human consciousness, so that mortal beliefs and bad characteristics were disappearing, and I could look upon the world with cheer and happiness. I learned more and more to understand, that, as His image and likeness, I live in God's infinite love, eternal and perfect. Repeatedly I read the chapter in the textbook of our revered Mrs. Eddy called "Some Objections Answered," until from the depths of my heart came the words, "Father, I see!"
All the supposed illnesses and infirmities have now disappeared; these errors have all been destroyed through Truth and Love. My desire is sincerely bent on my being led and directed of God. The great truth that life is spiritual, and that supply is also spiritual and always at hand, if we seek it with spiritual understanding, has also blessed me further. My old position has been given back to me in every respect. In addition to many other proofs, this was a sign of divine provision which stirred me deeply and anchored my faith securely. My gratitude is boundless. I praise and thank God even in the midst of the greatest business pressure. My increasing joy is a proof to me that I stand in His love.
