Merriam, Kansas (First Church).—In observance of freedom of their church from all indebtedness, members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Merriam, Kansas, formally dedicated their structure on Sunday, October 17, 1937. The ceremony was in connection with the regular service.

The church, completed in November, 1931, is of English architecture and built of brick and stone with stucco trimming. It is located at Merriam Boulevard and Short Street.

The church was first organized in 1913. Residents of Merriam and South Park met in private homes to hold Christian Science services. A year later a small edifice was constructed for temporary use.
