My heart is so full of gratitude to Christian Science and to Mrs. Eddy that I wish to give this testimony, hoping that it will help others.

I am a seafaring man, having spent all of my life from the age of fourteen at sea. On Christmas Eve, 1928, a boat was sunk in a harbor of a small island near Long Island, New York. As I was a deep-sea diver, I was called upon to assist in raising the sunken craft. It took about two weeks to build cofferdams and get the ship ready for pumping and raising. On the last day I started to go into the engine room to make sure that all sea valves were closed. As I was about to go down the engine room ladder my feet slipped and I fell to the engine room deck. About two months later I realized that the injury from this fall had slowly stiffened me so that I could not walk straight. Still not paying much attention to the effects of the fall, I made a trip to Europe and Africa. In 1931 I was in a hospital being treated for this difficulty. I was in hospitals in several different cities, having one X ray after another, and going from one doctor to another. According to different doctors I had arthritis, rheumatism, seven vertebrae out of place, shallowing of hip joints, lumbago, and many other ailments. In September, 1934, I was released from a hospital, as they could not help me. It took me forty-five minutes to walk two short city blocks.
