In 1923 our family was brought to the recognition of God as the one and only healing power, by a member who was healed of a tumor. Although it was quite a while before the physical manifestation vanished, a steadfast clinging to the truth was begun and faith in Christian Science established.

My sister and I were entered in the Sunday school of our neighborhood branch church, and for the privilege of this attendance I am deeply grateful. My teacher, coming with the humble attitude of one who is always learning, worked to bring out the clear, demonstrable truths of Science, which to a large extent have allayed fears of mortal mind many times since then. We learned that if we were seeing our brother as less than perfect, our own consciousness was being touched with this error. It was claiming to be a part of ourselves, or we could not accuse our brother of it. And we were taught that if any confusion attempted to govern our thinking in this respect, we could always go back to the creation of man as given in the first chapter of Genesis, the basis of Christian Science, and the logical solution to the problem would follow. It is needless to say that instruction gained in our Sunday schools provides a very firm foundation for spiritual growth.

Four years went by after my leaving the Sunday school before the demonstration of church membership was made. I then realized that it was a necessary step in spiritual progress in order to avoid becoming a "drifter." This was immediately followed by advancement in business and the opportunity to be of greater service to my fellow employees. I have always noticed that even in the smallest consecration to scientific work we are doubly rewarded.
