Saturday Evening Post, Kimberly

In your issue of recent date, in a book review, Mary Baker Eddy is described as "a stalwart of Communism," and an "irreligionist." As these statements concerning what Mrs. Eddy taught and the religion she founded are erroneous, I would ask you to grant space for this letter to make the necessary corrections.

Mary Baker Eddy discovered and founded Christian Science a little over seventy years ago, and through the healing and regenerating efficacy of its teaching this religion has spread throughout the world with greater rapidity than has any other religion known to mankind. Christian Science is a purely spiritual teaching, a religion of Love. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy (p. 340), we read: "One infinite God, good, unifies men and nations; constitutes the brotherhood of man; ends wars; fulfils the Scripture, 'Love thy neighbor as thyself;' annihilates pagan and Christian idolatry,—whatever is wrong in social, civil, criminal, political, and religious codes; equalizes the sexes; annuls the curse on man, and leaves nothing that can sin, suffer, be punished or destroyed."
