Messiah

The Judean hills still stand immovable,
As on the night that stranger star appeared,
And a triumphal angel host declared
The advent of a Prince to Israel.
Aye, centuries have passed since the pale ray
Pierced through the obscurated human thought,
Yet eager hearts its forceful fire have caught,
Until the gospel spans the world today.

The Prince of Peace is come! Though nations war,
Although aggressor powers may rule and rave,
Though kingdoms fall, there is one holy law,
There is one Governor whose arm can save—
The same Christ, Truth, which the disciples saw,
Has still the power to calm the wind and wave!
