When to the earth our Saviour came,This guide to all the world was given—A splendid star of living flame,Burning in the height of heaven.Yet but the Wisemen from afarBeheld the glory of that star.

And ever through the world's dark night,Chaotic with its doubts and fears,There shines that calm and steadfast light,Still guiding thought across the years.And constantly I pray to beAlert, that guiding star to see.
