There may be some misunderstanding about a reference to Christian Science in an article "On Confessions" in the Telegraph of February 20. The Wednesday evening meetings held in Christian Science churches throughout the world are not for "confessions," as the article seems to imply, but are opportunities to give praise to God for benefits received.

In the Manual of The Mother Church (Art. VIII, Sect. 24), Mary Baker Eddy states: "Testimony in regard to the healing of the sick is highly important. More than a mere rehearsal of blessings, it scales the pinnacle of praise and illustrates the demonstration of Christ, 'who healeth all thy diseases' (Psalm 103:3)."

Many testifiers who had previously suffered from what were considered incurable diseases, after turning to Christian Science were healed. Did not "the whole multitude of the disciples" praise God before all the people, and did not the woman who was healed (see Luke 8:47) immediately declare "unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him"?
