"Forgetting those things which are behind"
Each
morning as I wake to a new day,
An angel with a gleaming sword I find
Guarding my thoughts. He steadfast bars the way
Of memory. "You must not look behind;
The past shall no more taunt you, nor allure,
Whispering of failure or of lost delight.
Today, this radiant day, alone is sure."
And even as he speaks I wake from night,
Find a new vision unperceived before,
While to my eager gaze all heaven unfolds;
And what seemed past and future merge and glow
In one glad moment. All Love has in store,
All beauty and all wonder that He holds,
The omnipresent waits but to bestow.
