Faith-lighted eyes, set 'neath a brow serene
That gave no hint of sadness, nor of guile,
From whose pure depths in grateful gladness welled
The glories of the joys those eyes had seen,
And lips apart in gentle, tender smile.

I looked into his life, and there I found
A humble heart, attuned to do the deeds
By Love decreed, to comfort and to heal.
In every work for God he doth abound;
And, meekly ministering to his neighbors' needs,
To all men holy beauty doth reveal.
