I first became aware of Christian Science when I was...
I first became aware of Christian Science when I was eighteen. I attended the Christian Science Sunday School for about a year, but seemed gradually to lose my desire to study and know more of the subject. However, during the following four or five years I turned to Christian Science whenever physical inharmony presented itself, and always received help through the aid of a practitioner. Finally a condition presented itself for which I was utterly unable to find material help. I hesitated to turn to Christian Science wholeheartedly, because I felt I should have to give up a good deal that was seemingly necessary to my happiness—entertainment, companions, et cetera. Because of the seeds sown during my attendance at the Christian Science Sunday School, however, I never doubted that I would receive the needed help from Science, and I finally started to study sincerely. I found, much to my surprise, that there was no sense of giving up anything. Undesirable notions simply dropped away, and I experienced a sense of joy and happiness that I had never known. That was over twelve years ago.
I have had many beautiful evidences of the true source of my supply. When I was a little girl there was never quite enough money for everything needed—and it has at times been hard for me truly to be willing to rely on God and not try to force situations through human will and planning. However, through the consecrated work of a practitioner, needs have been and are continuously being met—sometimes from undreamed-of sources.
My son was born under Science treatment and has had beautiful protection all of his twelve years. He has been quickly healed of mumps, measles, scarlet fever, whooping cough, oak poisoning, and colds. I am so grateful that he can attend the Christian Science Sunday School and thereby build a firm foundation.
