The following is to me an irrefutable proof of the exactness of the statement, "Man's extremity is God's opportunity." I shall never tire of expressing the boundless gratitude which overflows my whole being for Christian Science, and for the remarkable benefits which I have received from it.

My family and I were in the greatest destitution. As I no longer had lodging, or credit, but a bad reputation, I had resolved on a desperate stroke to get out of this misery. I had determined to rob an establishment in our city. But I am grateful to say that through the mediation of a Science friend, who advised me to consult a practitioner, I had the good fortune of coming close to the truth. This practitioner helped me to understand what man is, and I left his house at ease in my thought and with a small amount of money in my pocketbook for my most urgent needs.

A few days later an unexpected position was offered me; but I quickly forgot that I owed all this to God, to Christian Science, and to the work of the practitioner. A year later I was awakened again, this time in a terrible way. Since that day demonstrations have followed with such rapidity that in spite of myself I have devoted all my heart and all the strength of my thought to the study of Christian Science.
