In his reply to "Inquirer" your correspondent states, "I am a believer in Jesus as the greatest prophet of mankind." Christian Scientists believe exactly the same, and understand that no one can ever take his place. Christian Scientists are always striving to know more of the "mind of Christ." Mrs. Eddy describes Christ Jesus as the most scientific man that ever trod the earth, as the great Exemplar, as the Way-shower. Her injunction to her followers is, "Follow your Leader only so far as she follows Christ" (Message to The Mother Church for 1901, p. 34).

Mrs. Eddy is the recognized Leader of the Christian Science movement, for she was the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. Through her revelation, hundreds of thousands of people have been rescued from disease, and from lives of sin, misery, and hopelessness. One of my friends was completely healed of consumption of the lungs when in the last stage of this disease; the mother of another friend was healed of a tumor on the brain; another was healed of an incurable internal condition, and now is playing an important part not only in the life of this city, but also in international affairs.

These people would be terribly lacking in gratitude if they failed to appreciated the one through whose loving work they have been so blessed. But no Christian Scientist ever deifies Mrs. Eddy. Neither does he put her in the place of Jesus, however great his gratitude may be.
