Breaking the Dream of Disease
"It breaks the dream of disease to understand that sickness is formed by the human mind, not by matter nor by the divine Mind." Thus writes Mary Baker Eddy on page 396 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
This statement is in startling contrast with the generally accepted belief of mortals, for, unfortunately, through miseducation mankind has long considered sickness and kindred physical difficulties as being conditions of matter and traceable to many and varied material causes.
Until the discovery of Christian Science, made by Mrs. Eddy in 1866, and given to the world through her published writings and the world-wide movement she established, disease was not regarded as a dream condition, but as an actual physical condition. As a result of false religious teachings, devout Christians have believed that in some instances God has sent sickness and other discords upon His children in order that they might learn some needed lesson.
