Profound happiness and gratitude prompt me to submit...

Profound happiness and gratitude prompt me to submit my first testimony. Although I have been interested in Christian Science for many years, it never meant very much to me until the end of 1935, when my son, then six years old, was healed of diphtheria. He was progressing wonderfully under God's care and the guidance of a beloved practitioner, but in order to be law-abiding, we called a physician, who diagnosed the case as diphtheria, and stated that one injection was required by law. This regulation was complied with, and thereafter no further medicine was administered. Without the constant help of the practitioner, who affirmed God's supremacy and who guided us along each step of the way, we should have found the way dark indeed.

Words are decidedly inadequate to express the happiness we have felt because of this experience, which led us nearer to God. Restoration of my son's voice also took place at this time through our realizing that a faculty of Mind can never be lost. Through the help of a practitioner, we have also witnessed almost instantaneous healings of whooping cough, measles, and mumps. I am extremely grateful for the financial aid which was given to me.

Recently my son had a badly infected right index finger. Upon the second day of treatment it opened up. Only one week was missed from school. Many years previous to this, I had had a similar trouble on my left hand, and under medical care I remained in bed for one month, being too weak to do otherwise; and after much suffering, the finger did not heal as normally as that of my son.
