[Original testimony in German]

In 1932 I experienced for the first time the great blessing of turning to Christian Science. I had been ill with grippe three times in succession, and was left with a persistent head and neck difficulty, so that for nearly a year I was unable to work, and thus lost my position. None of the three doctors who treated me could heal me. My taking the cure in a mineral-bath health resort recommended by the doctors resulted in the very opposite of a healing, as did also treatment by a hypnotist.
When my brother invited me to turn to Christian Science I at first declined. In extreme distress, however, I later took up some copies of The Herald of Christian Science (German edition) which he had given me. I read them through with increasing attention, and became convinced that I had found what I had long been seeking, namely, the true concept of God. I asked a Christian Science practitioner for help, which was lovingly given. I shall never forget how during and after the first treatment God's omnipotence and omnipresence became tangible to me and unutterably lovely. I relegated to the rubbish pile all medicines and so-called tonics. After but a few treatments I was so far restored and freed from fear that I could again apply for a position; and in a relatively short time a satisfactory one opened for me.
Through the reading of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly and intensive study of the Bible and the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I learned that God is the only sure help in trouble, that unconditional reliance on, and understanding of, the healing and protecting power of the Almighty heals all infirmities, protects from all danger, and helps one to overcome every untoward condition.
