Christian Science is indeed the Comforter promised by...
Christian Science is indeed the Comforter promised by the Master. From childhood I had longed for a religion that would fulfill the Biblical promises. Years later, when a Christian Science Sentinel was sent to me by a sister, I realized that the truths set forth therein were the very things for which I had been longing. Not long afterwards I was to have convincing proof of the healing power of this Science. In the year 1928 my young daughter was taken ill with pneumonia, after which a tubercular abscess formed on the lungs, and the doctor attending her, to use his own words, said, "I guarantee that she will die." However, a Christian Science practitioner was called in, and with his help she was soon completely healed, and recently passed a medical examination for admission to the civil service.
I was very grateful for this proof of divine power, also for the knowledge, gained from this experience, of God as divine Mind, Principle, Love, ever available, because it has helped me in later years to overcome a sense of resentment, brought about through what mortal mind terms unjust treatment. Through the understanding which Christian Science gives, I was able to replace resentment with the love that "thinketh no evil." Dismay over being falsely accused was overcome by my holding to the realization that, as our beloved Leader teaches us, there is only one Mind, and not many minds.
When the ordinary means of supply were withheld, I was able to prove that God is indeed the real source of supply; and through turning wholly to Him in confidence and trust, I was able to support my small son and daughter at school, and found every need met as it arose, in proportion as I turned away from the belief of supply as material. Thus I proved that the law of supply is divine and equal to every demand, and that, as the prophet Isaiah said, "Before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear."
