Love in Little Things

[Written Especially for Young People]

Man is the image and likeness of Love, God. Therefore, man is naturally loving and lovable and lovely. This is the truth about man as God made him, and to deny it, for ourselves or for another, is to bear false witness and so to break a commandment. To accept this truth is to bear true witness and so to demonstrate Love.

For Love must be demonstrated. It is not some beautiful abstraction to be thought about on Sundays. It is something to be lived and used. The more we live it and use it, the stronger and the more real it becomes to us.

Love, like charity and all good things, should begin at home. Love can be expressed in table-setting or dishwashing or the loving and perfect accomplishment of any one of the thousand and one small home tasks which must be done by someone, and which, more often than is right, are left for father or mother to do.
